 | Growing up, my mother enrolled me in drawing and watercolor classes where I would come home everyday, no matter the lesson, with another portrait of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. As an act of generosity (and to boost my reputation), I'd hand out my drawings around school. Soon, I was filling requests day after day. All the kids were diggin' the turtles! Business was booming! In high school, I rediscovered a knack for all this after enjoying a course named "computer art". It didn’t take long before I realized I was really into this whole “graphic design” thing and I ventured off to Northern Illinois University to learn more. Senior year, I traveled to Poland, taking part in design & printmaking workshops and learning the secrets behind expressive Polish poster design. Nowadays, I'm inspired by many things. A prying curiosity helps me discover new and strange things all the time. This probably branches into my attraction to the visually awkward and mundane, things that lack mechanical perfection. But overall, I feel it's important to be versatile. I challenge myself to maintain variation in the aesthetics of my work so I can design for all kinds of different people. Alongside design, I love folk culture: the people, the places and the music. I'm also into old time radio shows and all mysteries for that matter - but that's about as far as the drama goes. I try to stay a laid back man because there are so many simple things to appreciate. I prefer comfort to fashion, campfires to dance clubs and a beard to a baby face. | |
